Lord Anjaneyar is worshipped by the people as “Kali Yuga God”. Every time period, God has taken different avatars. In this time (kali yuga) god has incarnate as an Archa Avatara (statue form). Hindu Religion said that we have to worship the god who displays in Archavatharam by singing, dancing, worshipping, and touching his feet wholeheartedly.

The Urchava statues in this temple were undergo poojas before the temple was built. Gnanananthagiri’s one of the disciples namely Harithasgiri give the statues of Rama, Seetha, Lakshmana, Anjaneya which were undergone poojas and salagram to a devotee who belongs to vaikanasa parambara and command him to worship the statues. He also added that after some days an Anjaneyar Temple will be seen in this place. At that time consecrate this statue in the temple and pray them.

On the blessing of him, Ashtamsa Varadha Anjaneyar Temple was built near Avinasi road, Peelamedu in Coimbatore district. By his order, the statues and salagram were consecrated on the temple and the consecration ceremony (Kumbabishekam) was specially done in the year 2004.

At that time, Coimbatore suffered and dried without rain for 4 years. And so, special poojas for rain occur on the 48 days of Mandala Pooja. After that, the people of Coimbatore enjoyed the heavy rainfall, and the water resources get filled and overflowed because of the blessings of Anjaneyar.

In this temple, Anjaneyar’s body was made up of salagram. Accordingly, Sivan and Anjaneyar were same, Anjaneyar statue was placed instead of Shivan.

Structure of Ashtamsa Varadha Anjaneyar Temple

Sri Varadha Anjaneyar was the Moolavar of this temple and placed on the Moolasthana with the standing posture of facing west and blessing the people. With the knife in the waist, Anjaneyar was displayed on the battlefield looking at the Sanctum. It is rare to see Anjaneyar in this look. He is with Abhaya Hastham. He is in the Gomuki form with eight feet in height. The left hand is with Kathayutham (Gada Weapon). Mahalakshmi has stayed in his right hand. The tail is facing north. All these features make the devotees get rid of their blemishes.

We can get the energetic and positive vibe from the Anjaneyar by blessing anywhere in this temple.

Rajamani Pattachariyar said that Coimbatore Sri Ashtamsa Varadha Anjaneyar has Eight types of specialities. And so he is called Ashtamsha Anjaneyar.

Because of his eight specialities, he is called by the name “Ashtamsa”.

  1. The Right-hand says and consoles the devotees to“don’t fear”.
  2. Kathayutham on the Left-hand destroys anger, arrogance, greed and lust.
  3. West facing Face for blessing the people.
  4. The South facing Feet is to destroy the fear of death.
  5. Tail-facing Gubera side helps the devotees to worship the tail fully and also to be safe from the effects of Saturn (Sani).
  6. Anjaneyar’s form in the Sivalinga body.
  7. Thirumagal sitting in the right Hand.
  8. Sun & Moon as the eye of Anjaneyar.

People worship the Anjaneyar to get rid of fear & health issues, destroy enemies, free from the fear of death, live with wealth, and get the blessing of Ashtalakshmi.

Devotees do Abisheka and Archanai with Tulsi and worship the Anjaneyar when their prayers become true.

Sri Ashtamsa Varadha Anjaneyar Temple Festivals

On the basis of Vaikanasa agama, six stages of poojas were done every day. On Saturday and Moola nakshatra day, special decorations and poojas were done. Though Chithirai(tamil month) first day, Puratasi Saturday, Markazhi 30 days, Thai first days are celebrated, Anjaneyar Jayanthi has been celebrated as the special festival on the new moon day (amavasai) of Margazhi month. At that day Pushpangi was done. On the day of Tamil New year, Pazhakaapu (god decorated with fruits) 10008 fruits were decorated.

On the days of Puratasi Saturdays, Anjaneyar was decorated with Vada Mala (garland made up of vada) with 10008 Vadas. On the second Saturday, he was decorated with Senthoora Kappu, third Saturday Vanara (monkey) form with fur, fourth Saturday Muthangi seva, Thai first-day sugarcane decoration are made. We don’t have enough eyes to see the wonderful Anjaneyar. Apart from these Vennai Kappu (butter), and King makeovers are also done for Anjaneyar.
